Spencer Western Bugle Batten Hex Head Zinc Plated Screws have a coarse tapping thread and a special long sharp fluted point to capture chips in timber. 14g x 75 TPI Coarse Thread Zinc Yellow Bugle Batten In/Hex T17 Timber Screws are most commonly used for structural framing, roofing battens, furniture, gates, fences, workbenches, pergolas, carports, decking planks and landscaping. Easy to use, can be installed using 5mm hex/Allen key or 5mm hex drive bit, which comes inside the box, in a power tool. The special long sharp self-drilling point with a flute (Type 17) that cuts the timber fibres as it is screwed in. Timber fibres are collected in the flute and reduces the potential for splitting. The self-drilling type 17 point can pierce light gauge steel up to 0.6mm without predrilling. The ribbed bugle head self embeds and can be driven flush or countersunk below the timber surface and are used where the finish is a primary concern.
