Description:

The Early Bird Screen is an Australian locally designed corten steel screen that blends natural symbolism with a calm, contemporary aesthetic. Crafted as both a functional garden screen and an artistic statement, it brings a sense of movement, growth, and quiet strength into outdoor spaces.

The design draws inspiration from trees rooted in the forest – absorbing light, wind, and the energy of the land – while the bird form represents freedom, courage, and the instinct to move forward. Rising upward and facing the sun, the composition reflects the idea of leaving limitation behind and stepping into one's own direction.

Made from weathering steel, the screen develops a rich natural patina over time, allowing it to age gracefully with its surroundings. It works beautifully as a standalone feature, a subtle privacy screen, or a sculptural backdrop in gardens, courtyards, and outdoor living areas.


Size and Installation:

The screen is 1210 mm wide and 2400 mm high, cut from 1.5 mm Corten steel, and stands on two steel feet. The legs, connecting rods and all fixings are included, and the feet can be anchored to hard ground with the expansion screws supplied.


Design Inspiration:

Inspired by the natural strength of trees and the quiet determination found in the forest, the Early Bird Screen symbolises growth from the ground up – rooted, yet never confined. The bird motif reflects the idea of breaking free and moving toward light, echoing the spirit behind 'Educated' by Tara Westover: to flee like a bird toward your own mountain.
It is a reminder of independence, renewal, and the courage to rise with the morning sun.

  • Corten steel develops a natural rust patina over time outdoors. How fast it forms, and its final colour, depend on the weather.
  • While the patina forms, rusty water can run off and stain nearby surfaces, such as paving, concrete, render and timber. Keep this in mind when you choose where to place it.
  • Remove all packaging and any protective film when your order arrives.
  • Weights are approximate and can vary by about 5 kg.
